Cantinflas rises again in the first trailer of his biopic movie

An eagerly awaited film about the most famous comedian in Mexico

The first trailer of the eagerly awaited film about the most famous comedian in Mexico, Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”, has been already released, before the final premiere of the film takes place the 29th of April in USA and arrives to Mexico the 19th of September.

 

“Cantinflas” is directed and written by the mexican filmmaker Sebastián del Amo, and starred by the spanish actor Óscar Jaenada as Cantinflas, with Barbara Mori, Michael Imperioli, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Gabriela de la Garza y Gerardo Ruíz, in a Pantelion Films pruduction.

 

The movie, with a total budget of 3US$ millions, shows the untold story of Mexico's greatest and most beloved comedy film star of all times. From his humble origins on the small stage to the bright lights of Hollywood and his global success in the 50's, Cantinflas became famous around the world - one joke at a time. 

 

The leading role of “Cantinflas” is played by the the spanish actor Óscar Jaenada, who has a impressive resemble to Cantinflas in the movie. His election was really controversial in México because he was not a mexican interpreter, and some people found that inappropriate to play the role of one of the biggest cultural symbols of México.

 

The movie was already projected in March in the Film Festival of Guadalajara (México) in which it won the Minerva Award as Best Costume Design. The reaction of Mario Moreno Ivanova, the son of the one and only, unique and unforgettable Cantinflas, after see his father's biopic was really positive: “The film is great, the cast is awesome, magnific. And Óscar (Jaenada) is really moving playing my father's rol”

 

Mario Moreno Reyes, the mexican Charles Chaplin as he was named in Latin America, is one of the most important hispanic actors ever, being famous all around the world, even in Hollywood, where he got the Golden Globe in 1956.
