If you need some help to find accommodation,  Gringo has some tips for you

If you are facing the issue of accommodation search in Brisbane because you are about to land, or you are already here and you feel a little lost trying to get some new place to call it “home”, we are going to give you some tips to help you.

First at all, you have to know how you are going to search that place, and what you are looking for exactly. Here in Australia, you have different ways of accommodation (apartments, homestays, au pairs, shared rooms, houses, backpackers) and it's important no to hesitate when deciding which one is your preferred choice.

It's very important to know the best locations for to you to stay (where you are going to study, or where your workplace is located, where you will be daily, etc.) In that way, you can choose a better place or suburb to live close to those places an save money and time using transport. And of course, the closer you want to live to the city cent, the more expensive it is.

Once you have decided that, you can start with the hunting. Note that by doing all that work in advance the chances to achieve your target will increase.

Now, if you want to know about places being advertised, you should have a look to the Internet. There are hundreds of offers about places to rent per day, but you should make a decision in a really short time, because the demand is also huge. If you want to take your time, the best thing to do is attend to colleges, schools, uni, libraries... places where students use to be. They are always in a continuous change so there is a great point to ask for new possible places to rent.

And of course, please, have a look at our new Accommodation section at gringomedia.com.au. We can help you from here.

Last but not least, once you have been successful in your search, make sure to sign a contract to make a deal with guarantees, reading all the terms and conditions on it before signing. If you don't agree about something, then you can trade with your landlord. We can say that for the first timers, is not advisable to sign a long term commitment, as it's likely to change your place of residence in your first months of stay abroad.
